GOULBURN CIRCUIT COURT.
MONDAY—MARCH 23.

BEFORE His Honor Mr Justice Wise.

    The Goulburn circuit court opened on Monday last, before his Honor Mr Justice Wise. The calendar, though not lengthy, comprised a more than usual proportion of serious charges. The barristers present at the opening of the court were Messrs Holroyd, Isaacs, and Simpson; attorneys, Mr Walsh and Mr Gannon. Mr Butler prosecuted for the Crown, assisted by Mr Williams, crown solicitor. Mr Allman, PM, officiated as deputy-sheriff; clerk of arraigns, Dr Gyulay. 

UNNATURAL OFFENCE AT SUTTON FOREST.

    James Doherty [aka Dogherty] pleaded not guilty to an indictment, charging him with the commission of an unnatural offence [bestiality with a bitch], at Sutton Forest, on the 1st October last. At the request of the judge, Mr Simpson undertook the gratuitous defence of the prisoner. The jury, after a brief deliberation, acquitted the prisoner, who was accordingly discharged.
