CENTRAL CRIMINAL COURT.
(Before his Honor the Chief Justice [Sir James Martin] and juries of 12.)
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17.

    Mr Wise prosecuted for the Crown.

BESTIALITY.

    Timothy Scanlon pleaded not guilty to an indictment of bestiality [with a mare ]. Mr Edmunds, instructed by Mr WJ West, appeared for the prisoner. The jury returning a verdict of an attempt to commit the crime mentioned, his Honor sentenced prisoner to one year’s hard labour in Darlinghurst gaol.

    Mr Wise prosecuted for the Crown.

UNNATURAL OFFENCE.

    Timothy Scanlan [aka Scanlon] was indicted for having been guilty of an unnatural offence at Port Macquarie on September 17, 1885.

    Mr Edmunds, instructed by Mr WJ West, appeared for the defence.

    The jury found the prisoner guilty of the attempt.

    Mr Edmunds handed to his Honor a number of testimonials as to the prisoner’s good character.

    His Honor sentenced the prisoner to one years’ imprisonment with hard labour in Darlinghurst Gaol.
