BOURKE QUARTER SESSIONS.

(Before His Honor Judge Backhouse.)

    The bar was represented by Mr Dawson (Crown Prosecutor), Mr Blackett, barrister. Messrs Biddulph, Ryan, Neville, and Eves, (Brewarrina) (solicitors) also occupied seats at the professional table.

UNNATURAL OFFENCE.

    William Lee was charged as above.

    The following jury were impannelled:—[sic

    Hans Mattison

    The evidence in this case was similar to that given at the Police proceedings a few days since.
    The Crown Prosecutor opened the case for the Crown very briefly.
    The evidence abduced is necessarily unfit for publication.
    Accused [William Lee] made a statement strongly denying the charge.
    His Honor summed up to the jury who after the retirement of a short time brought in a verdict of “Guilty.” The accused was remanded for sentence.

SENTENCES.

At 2 o’clock His Honor passed the following sentences:

    William Lee, attempted sodomy and indecent assault, five years on each count; sentences to be concurrent.

Bourke, Wednesday.

    The Quarter Sessions concluded yesterday. The following sentences were passed:—Cyrus Huxley, for riot, two years in Dubbo gaol; Malcolm P Muir, larceny, 12 months in Bourke gaol; Charles McHenry, larceny, nine months in Bourke gaol; Owen Coleman, attempting suicide, one month’s imprisonment; Cubby, for indecent assault, 18 months in Dubbo gaol; William Lee, indecent assault, five years’ imprisonment.

    The District Court sat till late last night, and finished the business. There was nothing of special importance.
